The Best Robot Hoover
The most effective robot hoover will clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as dirt detectors) are both positives.
Make sure you regularly check your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large debris and clean them as needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger one at the base, which reduces the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have tested. They feature motors that are top-of-the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they employ intelligent mapping to design precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with carpet boost that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they have several flaws that prevent them from being our top pick. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. It doesn't also come with a camera to look around corners.
However, it's a good choice, especially if you want to save money on a iRobot Roomba and you have a bare-floored home or office. It's also quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective when it comes to mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with one that is wet in just a few just a few seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into an elegant, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with a self-emptying bin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the most efficient robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensor technology that can keep away from obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time and ensure cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average when compared to other models.
You can instruct the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when in a carpeted room to prevent cross-contamination. Its flex arm is great for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it's not equipped with the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop that could complete the entire house with 66 percent of its battery left. It did a decent cleaning job on various rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combos.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With an elegant circular design that appears more like a regular Roomba than the competition's compact models This robot vacuum and mop combo is one of the most attractive looking models in our evaluations. The latest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.
Like other iRobot models like the X40 is easy to use, offering an easy mobile app interface and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit and Google Assistant. The only drawback is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive but not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however, it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the high-end robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and washes and dries its mop pads.
The smart robot makes use of LIDAR and structured lighting to map out floorplans and identify obstacles. It can navigate more efficiently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the amount of time the vac works and alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on the degree of dirt they are.
For larger homes, it's worth opting for a model that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house using the app or voice commands. A stairway mode is beneficial if you have lot furniture. Also the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more advanced than its price would suggest. It has a great vacuuming performance and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured app and an auto-emptying, washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you have marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules or set up an automatic spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize your dirtiest areas to improve performance. The app offers a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong 8000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for hair of pets. You can also create a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.
Going On this page RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, however it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also comes with an app that's less intuitive and has a tiny base station that can't double as a bin for emptying.
